Scenarios

Inflation — the same contributions merely keeping pace with CPI would be $9,268 today, so the real (inflation-adjusted) return is -25.4%.

Lump sum instead — $8,200 all at once in Nov 2019: $49,367 (+502.0%) — lump sum came out ahead.

Worst timing — same monthly amount started at the all-time high (Dec 2023): $1,474 on $3,300 invested (-55.3%).

Backtests use monthly closing prices. Stock dividends aren’t reinvested, so long-run equity returns are understated.

About Tellor Tributes

Smart contracts on Ethereum are fully self contained and any information or access to off-chain data is restricted. Tellor solves this problem by creating a system where parties can request the value of an off-chain data point (e.g. ETH/USD) and miners compete to add this value to an on-chain data bank, accessible by all Ethereum smart contracts. Inputs to a data series are secured by a network of staked miners. The main Tellor smart contract creates a time series of each requested data series and aims to become the standard source of high value data for decentralized applications. (CoinGecko)

It's a cryptocurrency categorised under oracles, with a market cap of about $47M.

It rates High Risk at 2.8/5, meaning several rated factors score badly, so this carries materially more risk than a typical holding.
