Scenarios

Inflation — the same contributions merely keeping pace with CPI would be $12,432 today, so the real (inflation-adjusted) return is +136.0%.

Lump sum instead — $10,600 all at once in Nov 2017: $153,200 (+1345.3%) — lump sum came out ahead.

Worst timing — same monthly amount started at the all-time high (Nov 2021): $4,153 on $5,800 invested (-28.4%).

Backtests use monthly closing prices. Stock dividends aren’t reinvested, so long-run equity returns are understated.

About KuCoin

KuCoin is an international cryptocurrency exchange based out of Seychelle that currently supports the trading of 250 digital assets. What’s unique about KuCoin is that they share 50% of their overall trading fee revenue with users holding their exchange-based token. In a similar fashion to Binance, KuCoin offers relatively low tradings fees and incentives for holding (or trading) its native cryptocurrency. Back in 2011, the founders started researching blockchain tech and went further to build the technical architecture for KuCoin in 2013. (CoinGecko)

It's a cryptocurrency categorised under exchange tokens, with a market cap of about $971M.

There isn’t enough researched data to give it an overall rating yet — only 43% of the scoring weight is backed by facts, below the 60% needed. The score shown is partial and covers only what’s known.

What pushes the score up: liquidity (4.3/5) and market / volatility (3.3/5).

Not yet researched: supply & concentration, smart contract / technical, custody / bridge, governance / team, regulatory. These are excluded from the score rather than guessed, so the real risk may be higher than what’s shown.

Ratings summarise sourced facts against fixed rules — not investment advice, and no substitute for your own diligence.
