Scenarios

Inflation — the same contributions merely keeping pace with CPI would be $7,850 today, so the real (inflation-adjusted) return is -29.3%.

Lump sum instead — $7,100 all at once in Oct 2020: $21,051 (+196.5%) — lump sum came out ahead.

Worst timing — same monthly amount started at the all-time high (Apr 2021): $4,959 on $6,500 invested (-23.7%).

Backtests use monthly closing prices. Stock dividends aren’t reinvested, so long-run equity returns are understated.

About Aave

Aave is a decentralized money market protocol where users can lend and borrow cryptocurrency across 20 different assets as collateral. The protocol has a native token called AAVE, which is also a governance token that lets the community decide the direction of the protocol in a collective manner. Lenders can earn interest by providing liquidity to the market, while borrowers can borrow by collateralizing their cryptoassets to take out loans from the liquidity pools. (CoinGecko)

It's a cryptocurrency categorised under stablecoins, with a market cap of about $2.0B.

There isn’t enough researched data to give it an overall rating yet — only 43% of the scoring weight is backed by facts, below the 60% needed. The score shown is partial and covers only what’s known.

What pushes the score up: market / volatility (3.7/5) and systemic / correlation (3.0/5).

Scoring well: liquidity at 1.3/5.

Not yet researched: supply & concentration, smart contract / technical, custody / bridge, governance / team, regulatory. These are excluded from the score rather than guessed, so the real risk may be higher than what’s shown.

Ratings summarise sourced facts against fixed rules — not investment advice, and no substitute for your own diligence.
